Since I began my journey into the next phase of my life, growing my awareness of who I am and what I have to offer in the way of service to others, I’ve noticed many people, men in particular, who appear, on the outside anyway, to be unhappy. The vast majority of these people are alone as they go about doing whatever it is they are doing. As I observe them I find myself wondering if this apparent unhappiness is due to being no longer in a relationship with another human being and feeling that they’ll probably end up alone for the rest of their days.
What they might be experiencing is their longing for companionship and a discontent with their current circumstance.
A little over a year after my previous wife passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly, I noticed that I was feeling a longing for female companionship and was discontent with not having any idea what I was going to do with the rest of my life. I chose to act on those two “growth signals” and started thinking/dreaming about what type of woman might fulfill my longing for companionship and the enjoyment of the little things that come with that, like holding hands, walking on the beach, etc.
My Higher Power spoke to me in terms of a pop-up ad on Facebook for a dating agency. I chose to listen to that small, still voice and contacted the agency. What came out of that decision to notice what I was noticing and to listen to the power that resides within me, was a loving relationship with an amazing woman, who I ended up marrying a year later.
If you’ve lost the love of your life, for whatever reason, you don’t have to spend the rest of your days alone. Dare to dream about finding another love as I did.
