If on December 10th, 2015 someone had told me that a year later, I would meet an amazing woman who would become the love of my life and who I would ultimately marry, I probably would have told them to go away and leave me alone. You see, in November of 2015 I became a widower. The wonderful woman who I had been in a relationship with for 43 years and married to for 40 of those years, who was the love of my life, my soulmate, my best friend, my lover, had suddenly and without warning, died. I entered what Mary Morrissey describes as “The Dark Night”. I lived in that place for a solid year. When someone tells you, their heart is aching after the loss of a loved one, believe them because it does.
In Wallace D. Wattles book, The Science of Getting Rich, there is a sentence that reads; “Every living thing is under the necessity for continuous advancement: where increase of life ceases, dissolution and death set in at once. My inner voice spoke to me and asked me what did I want? Did I want a life of unhappiness, grief, a life that was unfulfilled? Or, did I want something else, something more? I chose the latter.
“The great thing about having a Higher Power is that it is Higher. Our challenge, in our spiritual practice, is to submit to, harness ourselves to, and really be in relationship with that Voice.”-The Miracle Minute, Mary Morrissey. I am so happy and grateful that I listened to my still, small voice. By paying attention and trusting my Higher Power, I discovered that I could love again, and deeply.
If you are alone after a long term relationship,I strongly urge you to trust in YOUR Higher Power to show you the way to the love and happiness that you once felt, because the price of not paying attention is high in terms of happiness.
As I said, I am so, so, grateful that I listened and paid attention to my inner voice, because if I hadn’t I wouldn’t have met Linda, I wouldn’t be in a truly loving relationship, and I wouldn’t have been introduced to DreamBuilding, the process which put me on the path of becoming and growing and not just existing.
