Who would have thought that a pandemic could bring our country, even our culture to a screeching halt? And yet, in one month’s time, we are sheltering in place or quarantining ourselves, fearful of “catching it”. How do we find balance when our lives and that of our families, have been altered? First of all, take a breath. This is only temporary; we will get through this and be the better for it.

I find being at home actually very refreshing. Yes, I love traveling, getting out with people, going shopping, and eating out, but for now I am rediscovering cooking, arranging my office to better suit my needs, and working in my many gardens. And, I’m enjoying developing new webinars I can offer to you! I keep up with family and friends on the phone and the internet. It’s not like I can’t communicate with others, it’s just a different way of being right now. Stop and think about your own situation. Many are having to participate in home schooling their children now, order groceries online to be delivered, clean their own homes, and do their work from home. It’s simply doing what we always did, but in a new way. We are adjusting and finding a new normal. As we move into harmony with what is—“what is” will begin to shift.

I find it very important to look for the balance in all of my activities and not dwell on the negative news that comes at us nationally, and at the state and local levels. The daily “body count” can get to us in unhealthy ways. Many of our routines have had us in a rut that wasn’t very healthy. Nature, (God) has basically told us to stop! Slow down and stay at home. Re-discover your strengths found within. Walk out in nature, sit in the sunshine and get plenty of Vitamin D, drink lots of pure water, eat healthy meals and snacks, slow your breathing, take walks and speak to your neighbors (5 feet apart of course), meditate, pray, journal. It’s time to create a new routine, one that has balance built in.  And for you oilers, use your oils—diffuse them, apply them, and use in your cooking and in your clean living. We may discover there is a better way of working and living without getting in our cars and driving to work or picking up fast food for our meals. Spending quality time with family had become a luxury—one that we now get to treasure. Need help figuring out what to do with your life while you are “retreating”?
