That’s interesting—most people keep a To-Do-List, what’s a “Not-to-do-List?” This is a list of all those activities that you have to spend time on that you would rather give to someone else to do! These are actions that don’t serve growth, greater income, empowerment, spirituality, your higher power, your family or your bigger future.
It will be a list different for everyone. Mine includes monthly accounting (which I’m delegating to my husband as our new Business Manager) and cleaning my house which I’m paying someone to come in every two weeks to do for me. Both of these big-time expenditures take me away from what I really love doing and that’s writing and creating.
Now there are some activities that I will want to share—for me they are gardening, cooking, and doing the laundry. These activities do distract me, but I enjoy doing them. The activities that I will not be sharing are the ones that I continue to love, love, love. For me its writing a monthly newsletter and blogs, coaching clients, and participating in mentorship educational programs.
So, what’s on your list of activities that you want to continue, to share, to delegate or eliminate all together? Think about those time wasters especially the next time someone asks you for a favor and you respond you don’t have time! Somethings can be automated although I hardly think the laundry will do itself or that the stove will magically produce a meal.
Perhaps it’s the amount of time you spend on watching Netflix or your “special” programs on regular TV. Maybe it’s the time you spend reading novels late into the night or talking on the phone for hours. It doesn’t matter what it is—just ask yourself is this something that I can decrease, delegate, or eliminate from my life? Is it a timewaster for me? Are there things I would much rather be doing that is life-giving?
