Have you ever been in a situation where you felt your very way of life and existence was being threatened? I have many times in my past but recently this ugly monster raised its head once again. It came in the form of taxes due!

Now everyone pays the tax man, “what’s the big deal” you may ask? It is a big deal when it is a large sum you weren’t expecting and have no obvious way to pay. At first view—I considered it life threatening, certainly threatening to my way of life. In the past—I would have gone straight into panic mode and embraced fear with all its ugliness—losing sleep, worry and doubt that I could deal with it, wondering what recourses I had. However, I am a different person through my work with Mary Morrissey.  This is what I have learned through my work as a certified Dreambuilder coach and Life Mastery Consultant.

First, ask yourself “Is it happening now?” My answer is no, not exactly but certainly in the future. Yes, but it isn’t happening in this moment! I have time to figure out a response.

Second, “Do I want it to happen.” Of course not! Who wants to have their life’s existence threatened, I thought.

Third, “Is there anything I can do to make it less possible.” Well…Yes there are lots of things I could do to deal with this threat. In fact, I could make a whole long list of things to do to mitigate this threat including looking at our accounting practices.

Fourth, “If it happens, my God and I can handle it.” Oh yeah, I forgot! I’m not alone in this world. I have access to spiritual power where I experience peacefulness and know that I am not alone.

Fifth, “In the meantime I’m not putting any energy into it.” Now that’s a hard one for someone who is used to panicking. That’s where I rely upon my spouse, my friends and mentors to bolster my courage and remind me to breathe…breathe in the light of love and peace. Fear has no place in my life. It’s time I let go of fear and threats, yes, God and I can handle this!

So, if you find yourself in a place where your natural inclination is to go into panic and fear, stop and think of these 5 steps:

  1. Is it happening now?
  2. Do I want it to happen?
  3. Is there anything I can do to make it less possible.
  4. If it happens, my God and I can handle it.
  5. In the meantime, I’m not putting any energy into it.
