Have you seen all the daffodils out early this spring? Driving along the city streets, I’ve seen beautiful bunches of this early spring flower, which makes me yearn to plant seeds. If I plant now, I can reap beautiful flowers in 6-8 weeks. That’s much earlier than when I lived in Colorado, where you wouldn’t venture to plant until the end of May.
So, planting seeds for flowers and herbs reminds me that there are other seeds we can plant this spring that can reap the reward of upgrading our mindset from a pessimistic outlook on life to one of great optimism.
Spring itself is a time of optimism when new life reaches out of the dead leaves of winter to stretch its greenness on the earth. We, too, can stretch our lives from winter blues to a fresh new take on life. What a perfect time to envision life as we would love it to be. However, a vision without personal action is only daydreaming unless you take the steps you can take and commit to taking some action.
Your thoughts make everything work to bring you what you want, but your action steps will bring your desires into reality. You can’t just tell God what you want and then sit back and wait for it to happen – you would be expecting God to do all the heavy lifting!
Several years ago, I moved to Florida (a much warmer area than Colorado). I was without meaningful work since I had given up the Institute of Spiritual Healing and Aromatherapy to retire to writing. I was no longer on-stage teaching and, for the first time, felt overwhelming loneliness. Rather than sit and worry about what to do with my life, I took the step I could take: to find a coach who could mentor me. Within a short time, I found the love of my life and meaningful work coaching others who, like me, were in the second half of life and needed a reboot.
That’s like planting seeds, and what better time to do that than springtime when all the earth calls out for new life? As you pass that 50, 60, 70, or even 80 mark and realize that life is not done with you yet, it’s time to make some plans. We get this one life (as far as we know!), so why worry over whether you have saved enough for those left behind? They are responsible for doing just what you need to do: live your life to the fullest, planting seeds, and reaping the harvest.
No one can promise that your seeds will grow, but if you have faith, they will grow and produce more than you ever dreamed. Seeds of happiness, fulfillment, meaningful contribution to the lives of others, joy, enthusiasm, compassion, and a knowing that you have done all you can in this one life to live well and to serve others.
So, if you find yourself at a place where you have lost your sense of passion and purpose, become an empty nester, lost a job or significant relationship, lack fulfillment, and wonder what’s next as you continue to age, then let’s talk. I want you to imagine the second half of life finding renewed purpose and fulfillment, having a crystallized sense of purpose, bolstering motivation, and daily actions aligned with your envisioned new life.
What would it mean to you to have these things? To live the life, you love? To feel fulfilled and on purpose with your life? To rediscover your spark and chart out a journey toward a life you’ve always dreamt of because you are tired of feeling stuck, lonely, and directionless.
I would love for you to have what I have found. It only takes planting seeds. I can help. Just book a call with me and let’s get to work!
