With what could be considered chaos happening worldwide, you might think, “What is there to be thankful for?” And in the land of fact, that might be a valid question.

However, there is always something to be thankful for or appreciative of in the land of Truth.

Let’s take this month, for example. Today is November 15th, four days after Veteran’s Day. A day when, even if we deplore wars, we should take a minute to remember and hold in our hearts all the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country.

We could simultaneously send positive energy to the Universe that, in the not-too-distant future, we will see world peace.

November is also when we enjoy the bounty from the fall harvests in several parts of the country. We get to enjoy the magnificence of nature expressed in the beautiful colored leaves. Most of the country is celebrating the end of summer’s hot, humid days and the beginning of a period of cooler and drier days, perfect football, soccer, golf, hiking, biking, etc., weather.

And, of course, we must remember Thanksgiving. It’s a beautiful time where we combine enjoying the bountiful harvest with the gathering of family and friends. It’s a perfect time to take a moment to appreciate the fact that if we are sitting down to a wonderful meal, a meal prepared and shared with Love, with family or friends, we are truly blessed because there are so many in our country who, if they are lucky, will sit down in a shelter or soup kitchen and share a meal with, in many cases, strangers. Be thankful that there are such places and amazing people who give their time to help prepare and serve these meals.

Of course, you don’t need to wait for a holiday or a specific date to be grateful. You could be thankful for the simple fact that you are reading this, which means you woke up today and thousands of others did not. If you have stiff, painful joints but can navigate through your day, be thankful for the strength in your legs to support you. Even if you have experienced a heartbreaking loss, if you take a moment and close your eyes and open your heart, you will be able to bring forth memories of times that you feel grateful that you got to experience.

If you already practice gratitude daily, I celebrate you. If not, consider investing in a journal and taking time daily to journal five things you are grateful for that day. You will be surprised how easy it is to find things to be thankful for.

Peace and Love,

Rich
