OK, its time to take those extra pounds off and get in shape for spring. If you are like me, working out in the gym takes focus and determination but it also means not hurting myself! That’s where a trainer comes in handy or at least working with someone who can spot you so you don’t overdo it. For the last three years I have worked with a great trainer in Florida but unfortunately, I lost his attentiveness when I moved to South Carolina. That’s no excuse. I plan to find a new gym and look for a trainer I can work with weekly. In the meantime, I walk 3-5 times a week to keep up my stamina. Don’t forget stretches. Come a bit warmer weather, I will get my bike out and start riding these backcountry roads. So how can essential oils be your best friend when you workout?

Here are some great suggestions:

Peppermint – cooling for muscles, opening for the respiratory system. Rub a few drops on calves, or any joint that is bothering you both before and after your workout.

Copaiba – highest anti-inflammatory on earth, supportive for the musculoskeletal system, muscle relaxing. I like to apply this oil to any sore or sensitive joint not only
before and after working out but also at bedtime.

Aroma Siez – Muscle relaxing complex that promotes circulation and relaxes tight, aching muscles. Contains basil, marjoram, lavender, peppermint, cypress. This is a great blend that can especially help tight and stressed muscles.

Cool Azul essential oil and Cool Azul sport rub – cooling, supportive and relieving for sore or stressed muscles. Contains wintergreen, peppermint, sage, copaiba, oregano,
niaouli, lavender, blue cypress, elemi, vetiver, caraway, Dorado azul, German chamomile. A great, great oil and gel! I especially like the gel after working out.

Don’t forget Young Living’s Cool Azul Pain Relief Cream – this is an OTC cream for painful and stressed muscles. OK, this one is when I really overdo it and I’m hurting.

PanAway – An older blend of wintergreen, helichrysum, clove and peppermint. Just add a drop of two to a few drops of a carrier oil and apply on location as needed. This one is great for relief of deep tissue discomfort.

Relieve It – Another oldie but a goodie. It contains black spruce, black pepper, hyssop, and peppermint. It acts as an irritant, bringing blood supply to the area. You will want to dilute this one 50-50 with a carrier oil then use a cold or hot compress.

Deep Relief Roll-On – one of my new favorites. It contains peppermint, lemon, Idaho balsam fir, clove, copaiba, coconut oil, wintergreen, helichrysum, vetiver, and Dorado
azul. It’s in a roll-on making application easy.

There you have it—easy to carry oils for your gym bag or your pocket. If you want more information on how to use any of these oils for your workout, contact me at 720-201-9377.
