When was the last time you moved the furniture around? Last month? Last Year? Never?

Well, it’s time for a change. Why move the furniture around, you may ask? Because it will give you a new perspective on life.

Recently, we moved into our new dream home and spent a lot of time placing our furniture in a new way in our new space. It changes everything – how we look at things, our routine, how we get up in the morning, and how we go to bed. Just walking from one room to another, we notice we first have to think about where we are going. Our space is smaller, so many things we considered “precious” are now in drawers or cabinets, which challenges our memories of where we put them!

We notice many little things now, especially since we have to look for where we put familiar things. Sometimes, we look and look for something only to be remembered that we gave it away in the move.

What’s so great about having a new perspective on life? Glad you asked. When change happens, we see the world differently. What had become unnoticeable is now right in front of us. We notice symmetry and the lack of symmetry. We notice what fits and what doesn’t fit in our lives. Energetically speaking, we get younger! Yes, gaining a new perspective causes us to form new grooves in our memory patterns in the brain.

It’s like getting a new car with different gadgets to learn. At first, we feel awkward and slow and may even feel like, “I’ll never learn this!” But then, after a few errands, we get the hang of it, and it becomes our new normal.

Life is like that. We get into familiar ruts, and life takes on a kind of dullness. Every day is more of the same. Pretty soon, life becomes quite drab and grey. When we purposefully make changes, it’s like bringing color back into our lives. If you are seeking youthfulness, make some changes. Instead of getting up in the morning and going straight to the bathroom, change it up – do your gratitude’s before your feet hit the floor. Instead of fixing breakfast first, go for a short walk (even if it is just to the end of the driveway) before fixing breakfast.

After supper, instead of watching “The Wheel,” go for an evening walk or turn off the TV altogether.  At bedtime, change your routine and instead of reading in bed, sit in a chair.

In other words, change the grooves in your brain to give you a new perspective on life. When you do, don’t be surprised if new ideas or new thoughts come to you. Life can take on new excitement as you look at things differently.
