What does this holiday season say to you? Beside the fact it may be a small Christmas gathering this year of just the people in your own household, how can this be a blessed event for you? It’s all a matter of intention. If you are stuck in, “Woe is me, I can’t celebrate this year with my loved ones,” or “I’m all alone and this will be a miserable Christmas,” then it won’t be a very happy occasion. But what if I told you that this is an opportunity like non other to become the most Blessed Christmas EVER! That physically, emotionally and spiritually this will be the very best Christmas you have ever experienced! Could you believe that?
It’s ok if you say no, but is there just one corner in your mind that might be open to my suggestion? Just one corner that says, “well, it could happen?”
We each have the power of imagination that actually sets us apart from all the other creatures on this earth. Imagine with me, images of your own family and friends. Let’s not dwell on past Christmas gatherings, rather let’s imagine Christmas 2021 as you would love it. See yourself greeting each loved one, sitting down and catching up on the latest in their lives. See yourself helping in the kitchen, preparing everyone’s favorite Christmas foods whether it the turkey, ham or roast, or perhaps a salmon or vegetarian feast, see the vegetables that normally grace your family table, then see the pies, cakes or cookies piled high for dessert. Notice the dining room table with additional chairs set around it to accommodate everyone. The tablecloth and napkins, plates and dinnerware are laid out. There is a centerpiece of flowers or branches of holly in the center. All is ready for the feast. Then imagine sitting around the Christmas tree under which are lots of gaily wrapped presents for everyone. Hear the laughter, and the thank you’s as presents are unwrapped. Then feel your own feelings of joy and happiness as you feel connected and loved with all those gathered. The gift you receive is perfect—just what you have always wanted!
So, my advice this Christmas is to imagine your future self, experiencing a blessed time of Christmas cheer. Now let that feeling permeate into your present. Even though you may not be joining with family and friends this year, you can borrow the joy and happiness of the future for today. You can CHOOSE to be joyful, happy and blessed as you celebrate virtually with your loved ones.
Merry Christmas everyone and Happy Hanukkah,
