Now that tax-day is finally here and you have submitted all your paperwork, it’s time to take care of yourself. When I want to reward myself, I take a long soaking bath with essential oils in Epsom salts with a little baking soda added in. Plus, I will add some Young Living bath gel for a refreshing bubble bath. After a long day of working at my desk or out in our gardens, a soaking bath is just what the “doctor” ordered. There are so many different combinations you can use depending on whether you are addressing sore muscles, a need for sleep, or for anxiety, tension, emotional upset, fever, respiratory infection, cold or flu, or you just want to reward yourself with a sensual bath. I happen to have a rather large soaking tub so I’m not able to really fill it (not enough hot water available) so rather than sit straight up, I scoot down allowing the aromatic waters to permeate my back and neck. I put on some soothing music and light a few candles. Why all the bother? A bath is more than just cleansing the outer body—a soaking bath can relax your whole being and soothe your soul as well. We carry tension in our bodies whether we are aware of it or not and a relaxing bath can restore and rejuvenate. Here are some of my favorite oils but just know, you can combine just about any essential oils that speak to your heart. For a large tub, I use approximately 30 drops of essential oils. For a regular size bathtub, use 10-15 drops. ALWAYS dilute the essential oils in a dispersing agent first. You can use Epson salts, bath salts, baking soda, or even a cup of milk.
