Spring and fall are perfect times to talk about transitions when we move from one season to another. Sometimes a change of season can bring wild weather and can easily upend our lives with floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, fires, and wind. For the past few years, that seems to be the norm all year round. As we here in the northern hemisphere prepare for fall, our friends in Australia are happily anticipating spring – another wild and woolly time with its own set of challenges.

Life is like that. We may experience transitions in our families – a new baby, grandbaby, weddings, graduations, illnesses, surgeries, or even deaths of a loved one. No matter if the events in our lives are positive or negative, they require a response from us to these circumstances.

We may experience transitions in our work or where we live.

Transitions can affect our health, relationships, what we creatively do in the world, and our time and money.

Our response to transitions is either contraction or expansion. Contraction pulls our energy inward. We withdraw into our shells and deal with our circumstances by not dealing with them at all. Or by putting it off until tomorrow, hoping tomorrow never comes. Transitions are just too uncomfortable.

Expansion is very different. Yes, we literally expand our energy field as we address the transitions that come our way with the determination to move forward with a positive approach.

OK, that sounds a bit more promising and a lot less stressful. Regardless, it is an opportunity that has come knocking at your door. This fall (or spring), why not purposefully choose expansion over contraction?

In your own life, what opportunities are presenting themselves to you? If you want less stress, less worry, and more restful sleep – then you have a choice. And that choice is not to be a victim of the circumstances or conditions you may find yourself facing.

I know that may not sound easy, but I can show you how it works to your advantage. Wouldn’t you love to establish a habit of responding to life’s challenges in a way that is expansive and life -giving? Then, let’s talk. One of the distinct advantages of entering a coaching program is having someone show you the steps and hold your hand as you embark on a new way of responding – turning challenges into opportunities.
