As a business owner, I have from time to time, contracted with a mentor or coach for a particular reason to grow my business. Yes, I spent a lot of money on this and I can’t really say I always capitalized on those investments.
However, now in my wisdom years, I see more clearly why a mentor or coach could be of value to me—and I’m not just speaking about running a business. There is much more to life than that. We get just this one life and each day is a gift—not everyone woke up this morning, but you did! This life is so precious, why not make each day worth it? That’s where I have found the value of a coach, and I’m not just saying that because I have become a certified Dreambuilder Coach to help others live the life they dream.
A coach is many things—but is not a counselor. If you need professional help—look for a psychiatrist or psychologist for guidance. A coach is there to help bring out of you what you already know to be true. Their role is to support you—
- To discover and design your own vision for your future
- To help you take steps in the direction of your dream
- To navigate the gap between where you are now and where you want to be
- To learn a new skillset
- And, to live from the point of power within
There are basically four quadrants in our lives—health and well-being, relationships, vocation or what you want to achieve in the world, and time and money freedom. A coach can help you navigate through your longings and discontent to find what calls your heart and mind. Life is not happening TO you…it is happening THROUGH you.
